Drones USA General Beg Urges Pakistani Military to Shoot Down American Drones and Helicopters Now

By ASHRAF MUMTAZ

Former [Pakistan] Army Chief General Mirza Aslam Beg on Tuesday bitterly criticised the [PPPP] government for involving [Pakistan Army Chief] General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani in the conflict between the Executive and the Judiciary, and demanded that the Pakistan Air Force [PAF] should be tasked to shoot down the helicopters and drones involved in attacks on Pakistan's territories.

Talking to The Nation, General Beg also felt upset by the growing frequency of [American military & US CIA] drone attacks on Pakistan's territory, as a result of which many [Pakistani] people had been killed so far. He said the attacks [on Pakistan] by [US or NATO] ISAF helicopters are a new development, which is a matter of serious concern.

"We have got the means to avert threats to our security", said the former Army Chief, calling on the [Pakistan] Government to put the PAF on alert and order it to shoot down the [US] drones or helicopters violating Pakistan's territorial sovereignty. General Beg said it was very painful for him to hear that [US War Criminal] Richard Holbrooke had said in a statement that the [US] drone attacks were being carried out with the consent of the Pakistan [PPP] government and the [Pakistan Army's] GHQ. He said Pakistan has the right to come up with an appropriate response. "Armed Forces should be tasked not to let anyone attack Pakistan's territory again." continue

Pakistan ISI Did ISI Chief ‘Confess’ To CIA?

By SALIM BOKHARI - The Daily Mail of Pakistan

· Bob Woodward’s book ‘Obama’s war’ part of smear campaign
· Author concocted ISI chief’s confession on Mumbai attacks
· CIA-RAW Nexus Out To Malign ISI

This is now common knowledge that the infamous American spy outfit Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) carries out overt and covert operations across the world. Its latest target has been Pakistan’s national intelligence agency, the ISI.

CIA has launched a smear campaign to malign Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency by suggesting an ISI role in the Mumbai attacks. This time, the CIA has used the services of Mr. Bob Woodward who has authored and published a book titled ‘Obama’s war’. The book, page after page, alleges that the Mumbai attacks were the doing of an ISI-sponsored squad. continue

By AHMED QURAISHI - WWW.PAKNATIONALISTS.COM

The paranoid elected government of President Asif Zardari has been out battling shadows and ghosts, whipping up anti-military sentiment when the military never planned a coup of any sort against him. His problems are with the Supreme Court on legal grounds. To calm frayed nerves, it appears Gen. Kayani agreed to let Zardari and Gilani issue a statement on the three's commitment to 'defending' democracy. Pakistani military could also be bound by 'sovereign guarantees' given as back as 2007 stating that Pakistani military won't destabilize a government created through the US-sponsored NRO deal.

President Prime Minister Army Chief Pakistan Was A Fourth Military Coup Averted In Pakistan?

Monday’s well-timed meeting between the so-called ‘troika’ – the President, Prime Minister, and the Army chief – is being widely interpreted as having averted a possible collapse of the elected Zardari-Gilani government. There is no word from the military’s media people on the meeting but the president’s media office took the liberty of releasing a statement renewing the commitment of Gen. Kayani, and that of the President and Prime Minister, to defending democracy.

If there’s anyone who created a frenzy about an extra-constitutional [read: military-engineered] change, it is the elected government when it opened indiscriminate fire at shadowy and unseen enemies, warning it will defend democracy, pleading its American friends to issue pro-democracy statements, prodding ministries and NGOs to place newspaper advertisements extolling the virtues of democracy, and unleashing a frontman like Abdul Qayum Jatoi to whip up anti-military sentiment. By choosing Balochistan and Akbar Bugti’s house as a venue for Mr. Jatoi’s provocative lines, it was a clear message to the Pakistani military that, if toppled, the Zardari government will use Balochistan against the federation. It was naked blackmail. It came on top of other forms of blackmail – the waving of the so-called Sindh card, Zulfiqar Mirza’s statement about breaking away from Pakistan after Benazir Bhutto’s death, and coalition partner ANP’s recent bold statement linking respect for the military to respect for the elected government. continue

US Drone Attacks Pakistan C.I.A. Steps Up Drone Attacks on Taliban in Pakistan

By MARK MAZZETTI and ERIC SCHMITT

The C.I.A. has drastically increased its bombing campaign in the mountains of Pakistan in recent weeks, American officials said. The strikes are part of an effort by military and intelligence operatives to try to cripple the Taliban in a stronghold being used to plan attacks against American troops in Afghanistan.

As part of its covert war in the region, the C.I.A. has launched 20 attacks with armed drone aircraft thus far in September, the most ever during a single month, and more than twice the number in a typical month. This expanded air campaign comes as top officials are racing to stem the rise of American casualties before the Obama administration’s comprehensive review of its Afghanistan strategy set for December. American and European officials are also evaluating reports of possible terrorist plots in the West from militants based in Pakistan.

The strikes also reflect mounting frustration both in Afghanistan and the United States that Pakistan’s government has not been aggressive enough in dislodging militants from their bases in the country’s western mountains. In particular, the officials said, the Americans believe the Pakistanis are unlikely to launch military operations inside North Waziristan, a haven for Taliban and Qaeda operatives that has long been used as a base for attacks against troops in Afghanistan. Some Pakistani troops have also been diverted from counterinsurgency missions to help provide relief to victims of the country’s massive flooding.

Beyond the C.I.A. drone strikes, the war in the region is escalating in other ways. In recent days, American military helicopters have launched three airstrikes into Pakistan that military officials estimate killed more than 50 people suspected of being members of the militant group known as the Haqqani network, which is responsible for a spate of deadly attacks against American troops.

Such air raids by the military remain rare, and officials in Kabul said Monday that the helicopters entered Pakistani airspace on only one of the three raids, and acted in self-defense after militants fired rockets at an allied base just across the border in Afghanistan. At the same time, the strikes point to a new willingness by military officials to expand the boundaries of the campaign against the Taliban and Haqqani network — and to an acute concern in military and intelligence circles about the limited time to attack Taliban strongholds while American “surge” forces are in Afghanistan.

Pakistani officials have angrily criticized the helicopter attacks, saying that NATO’s mandate in Afghanistan does not extend across the border in Pakistan. continue

Operation Dark Heart Book Pentagon Bought & Destroyed All 9,500 copies Of A Book Operation Dark Heart Lt Col Anthony Shaffer Book Author of Operation Dark Heart Pentagon Bought & Destroyed All 9,500 copies Of A Book Operation Dark Heart

By PAUL THOMPSON

Pentagon buys and destroys 9,500 copies of soldier's Afghanistan book 'to protect military secrets'

Pentagon officials bought and destroyed all 9,500 copies of a soldier's book about Afghanistan amid fears it revealed military secrets. The entire first print run of Lt Col Anthony Shaffer's book 'Operation Dark Heart' was snapped up by officials at a cost of $250,000. The 299-page book was pulped on the orders of Pentagon chiefs

Despite giving their approval to the book they feared it contain details about secret operations in Afghanistan. Secret activities of the U.S. Special Operations Command, CIA and National Security Agency were said to be covered in the book. According to Fox News, one of the most contentious chapters concerned US authorities identifying one of the 9/11 hijackers as a threat months before the terror attack.

It claimed US authorities had identified Mohammad Atta as a possible threat prior to his involvement in the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York that claimed almost 3,000 lives.Shaffer claimed in the book that there was no mention of Atta being flagged up in the Government Commission ordered to probe the 2001 terror attacks. In the memoir, Army reservist Shaffer recalls his time in Afghanistan leading a black-ops team during the Bush administration.

He claimed his superiors gave the go ahead for the project when her returned to the US.But after the manuscript was read by the CIA and other agencies they objected to its content.Shaffer, who won a Bronze Star while serving in Afghanistan, said: 'The whole premise smacks of retaliation.Someone buying 10,000 books to suppress a story in this digital age is ludicrous.'

Lt. April Cunningham, a Defence Department spokeswoman, said military officials oversaw the destruction of about 9,500 copies of the memoir on September 20th before they could hit bookstores. 'DoD decided to purchase copies of the first printing because they contained information which could cause damage to national security,' Cunningham said.Shaffer's publisher has released a second printing of the book.

St. Martin's Press said it made some changes the government wanted 'while redacting other text he Shaffer was told was classified.'Blacked out lines appear throughout the book's 299 pages. Source: Daily Mail UK

India Banana Republic India: The Worlds Biggest Banana Republic

India's carefully created, and airbrushed, image of an 'emerging superpower' and the 'second-fastest growing economy' in the world rots in the piles of rubbish.

Shobhan Saxena, Times of India

A couple of days ago, a Scottish delegate got a shock of his life when he saw a dog shitting on a bed inside a 'swanky' apartment at the Commonwealth Games village in Delhi. The Scotsman clicked a photo of the dog, and now the picture is part of the evidence submitted by the Scottish delegation to the Organising Committee to prove that the multi-million dollar village is not "fit for human habitation". In the past few days, foreign TV crews and photographers have been busy chasing and clicking photos of dogs – peeing and shitting in the apartments, running on practice tracks, jumping into swimming pools and sleeping under the police cars and other vehicles parked at Games sites and venues. The foreigners are horrified – and scared to death – by the sight of street dogs running wild in the "sanitized areas". For them, it's a sign that India is not ready for the Games and the infrastructure here is not "world class". continue

imran farooq murdered Assassination of Pakistani political figure in London linked to CIA, Mossad, and RAW

The assassination on September 16 of exiled Pakistani Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) [United National Movement] leader Imran Farooq outside of his Edgware, London home has been linked to the ongoing joint CIA-Israeli Mossad-Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Pakistan destabilization program, according to WMR’s Asian intelligence sources who have been closely monitoring the attempts by the three foreign intelligence agencies to bring about chaos in Pakistan.

The subsequent blaming of Farooq’s stabbing death on the Pakistani Taliban has been linked to a global media disinformation network that includes such media outlets at Rupert Murdoch’s Sky News, CNN, IBN-CNN of India, NBC, Pakistan’s GEO-TV, India’s Aaj Tak TV, and the Voice of America (VOA) whose “news” operations are being coordinated by the State Department.

The disinformation operation, which sees independent news blogs as “national security threats,” has also been linked to the American Jewish Committee and the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, led by Cass Sunstein, a proponent of draconian Internet controls.

Pakistan Naval Chief Noman Bashir Pakistan Navy Chief Corruption Puts Navy at Risk

The Pakistan Navy is in disrepair. It is facing acute shortage of helicopters, SAR aircraft and modern frigates. Seen in the backdrop of the massive Indian naval buildup which is sporting a numerical and qualitatively superior fleet many times the size and capability of the Pakistan Navy, composed of nuclear submarines, aircraft carriers, modern frigates and destroyers, the Pakistan Navy fleet appears in poor light.

In the increasingly unstable world and open Indian ambitions of the Indian Ocean, the demand for naval competence and capability for the Pakistan Navy becomes a vital bottleneck for Pakistan's national security and foreign policy. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Noman Basheer however, is busy filling his private coffers. With close ties and in partnership with Pakistani President Asif Zardari, a billionaire known infamously in Pakistan as Mr. 10%, CNS Noman Basheer is filling his pockets with the nation's meager treasures. continue

Dr Aafia Vs USA The Intelligence Factory: How America Makes its Enemies Disappear

Petra Bartosiewicz, Harper’s Magazine

When I first read the U.S. government’s complaint against Aafia Siddiqui, who is awaiting trial in a Brooklyn detention center on charges of attempting to murder a group of U.S. Army officers and FBI agents in Afghanistan, the case it described was so impossibly convoluted—and yet so absurdly incriminating—that I simply assumed she was innocent. According to the complaint, on the evening of July 17, 2008, several local policemen discovered Siddiqui and a young boy loitering about a public square in Ghazni. She was carrying instructions for creating “weapons involving biological material,” descriptions of U.S. “military assets,” and numerous unnamed “chemical substances in gel and liquid form that were sealed in bottles and glass jars.” Siddiqui, an MIT-trained neuro scientist who lived in the United States for eleven years, had vanished from her hometown in Pakistan in 2003, along with all three of her children, two of whom were U.S. citizens. The complaint does not address where she was those five years or why she suddenly decided to emerge into a public square outside Pakistan and far from the United States, nor does it address why she would do so in the company of her American son. Various reports had her married to a high-level Al Qaeda operative, running diamonds out of Liberia for Osama bin Laden, and abetting the entry of terrorists into the United States. But those reports were countered by rumors that Siddiqui actually had spent the previous five years in the maw of the U.S. intelligence system—that she was a ghost prisoner, kidnapped by Pakistani spies, held in secret detention at a U.S. military prison, interrogated until she could provide no further intelligence, then spat back into the world in the manner most likely to render her story implausible. These dueling narratives of terrorist intrigue and imperial overreach were only further confounded when Siddiqui finally appeared before a judge in a Manhattan courtroom on August 5. Now, two weeks after her capture, she was bandaged and doubled over in a wheelchair, barely able to speak, because—somehow—she had been shot in the stomach by one of the very soldiers she stands accused of attempting to murder.

US Drone Attacks Killings Pakistan Asif Zardari Authorized CIA To Kill Pakistanis With US Drone Missiles: The Washington Post

The Washington Post has reported that PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, an infamous CIA Actor, illegally authorized the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to unlawfully murder thousands of innocent Pakistani citizens in Pakistan with American military/CIA drone-bombs.

The Washington Post news report of 23 September 2010, headlined "CIA Drones Killed U.S. Citizens in Pakistan, Book Says", states:

[American] CIA drones killed "many Westerners, including some U.S. passport holders" in Pakistan's tribal area during the George W. Bush administration, the new book by Bob Woodward says. Woodward, a longtime Washington Post journalist, writes in "Obama's Wars" that then-CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden disclosed the killings to Pakistani [PPP] president Asif Ali Zardari during a meeting in New York on Nov. 12, 2008. Hayden was succeeded by Leon J. Panetta in 2009.

Hayden and his deputy, Stephen Kappes, had gone to meet with Zardari, elected only two months earlier, to gauge his reaction to
the [US] drone strikes, which were generating widespread protests in Pakistan. According to Woodward's account of the meeting, Zardari said: "Kill the seniors. Collateral damage worries you Americans. It does not worry me." continue

CWG 2010 India India Bribed 72 Nations to Get Delhi CWG: Report

India bribed 72 Commonwealth countries $100,000 each to get the hosting rights for the scandal-hit 19th edition of the Games which will start in Delhi from October 3-14, a media report claimed.

A report in the Daily Telegraph claimed that Delhi pipped Hamilton in the bid after offering huge sums of money to the 72 Commonwealth countries during the final presentation in Jamaica.

The report also said that Australia received a kickback of $125,000 from India.

"Delhi sealed the right to host the Games when their delegates emerged at the final presentation in Jamaica and offered all 72 nations $100,000 (then about $140,000) each for athlete training schemes if they were the successful bidders," the newspaper reported.

"The money, subsequently paid to all nations, was not significant to Australia because it had already decided to vote for India and the payment was not an exceptionally large one.

"But for small nations who have minimal interest in the Games, it clinched their vote and India went on to beat Canadian city Hamilton 46-22 in the final poll. Hamilton had offered the nations about $70,000 each.

Hussain Haqqani Pakistan Ambassador to USA Haqqani Denied Visa To US Politician Working For Dr. Aafia’s Release Hussain Haqqani Cynthia Mckinney Haqqani Denied Visa To US Politician Working For Dr. Aafia’s Release

Stunning revelations about Husain Haqqani’s secret moves to scuttle Dr. Aafia’s case.

British investigative journalist Yvonne Ridley, who first broke the story on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s detention by US military in Afghanistan, has uncovered another scandal in her case. This time it’s the role of Pakistan’s ambassador to Washington Mr. Husain Haqqani in obstructing the efforts of the Pakistani government to secure her release from US custody.

It appears that Mr. Haqqani has been active behind the scenes in complicating Dr. Siddiqui’s case. Several American and British journalists say Ambassador Haqqani has been briefing them off-the-record about Dr. Siddiqui’s guilt.

It is not clear if such briefings were part of instructions received by Mr. Haqqani from Pakistan Foreign Office, or if those briefings represented Ambassador Haqqani’s personal views.

More stunningly, Mr. Haqqani has refused to grant an entry visa to US politician and former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. Ms. McKinney planned to visit Pakistan earlier this month to lobby Mr. Haqqani’s government in Islamabad on Dr. Aafia’s case. She also planned to visit flood victims and draw the attention of the US public to relief work.

Moreover, Mr. Haqqani stands accused of influencing Judge Richard Berman negatively on Dr. Aafia’s innocence. continue

USA War CIA Army Operating in Pakistan

Bob Woodward's new book is coming out on Monday (the one with the bad cover art), and both the New York Times and the Washington Post have preview pieces today. You can read those stories here and here. So what will we likely be hearing about for the next month? Gen. David Petraeus once referred to top Obama advisor David Axelrod as "a complete spin doctor," according to the book, titled "Obama's Wars." Joe Biden once called Afghanistan guru Richard Holbrooke "the most egotistical bastard I’ve ever met." And national security advisor James Jones once called Obama's political aides "water bugs."

But what should we be talking about from the book?

The undeclared, undebated secret war in Pakistan is bigger than we knew, and it's being conducted in part by CIA-trained Afghans:

The CIA created, controls and pays for a clandestine 3,000-man paramilitary army of local Afghans, known as Counterterrorism Pursuit Teams. Woodward describes these teams as elite, well-trained units that conduct highly sensitive covert operations into Pakistan as part of a stepped-up campaign against al-Qaeda and Afghan Taliban havens there.

The Obama administration seems to be enamored with a drone-based foreign policy: continue

kashmiri protest against india occupied kashmir Indian Occupation On Kashmir Cannot Continue

Pakistan on Tuesday urged the United States to pressure India over Kashmir, saying recent unrest showed that New Delhi and not Islamabad was to blame for trouble in the Himalayan territory.

On a visit to New York for a UN session on Pakistan’s devastating floods, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi insisted his government wanted peace with India but tore into its rule of Kashmir which he called “oppression.”

“The occupation cannot continue. The rights of the Kashmiri people cannot continue to be denied,” Qureshi said at the Council on Foreign Relations, a think-tank.

“We call upon the United States particularly, which is pressing so responsibly for peace in the Middle East, to also invest its political capital in trying to help seek an accommodation on Kashmir,” he said.

“Such an accommodation would not only be just for the people of Kashmir but would be critical for peace in the region,” he said, warning that “terrorism… has fueled and thrived on blatant examples of social and political injustice.”
President Barack Obama’s administration is seeking a broader relationship with India but also friendlier ties with Pakistan, a key battleground in the fight against extremism.

India considers Kashmir a domestic issue and rejects any foreign involvement. The Obama administration has steered clear of Kashmir after early statements triggered a backlash in India. Kashmir, a Himalayan territory with a Muslim majority but a sizeable Hindu minority, has been disputed between India and Pakistan since independence and triggered two full-fledged wars between them.  continue

Blackwater in Pakistan Pentagons attempts to stop publishing of book detailing US Black Operation inside Pakistan

US defence department attempts to prevent book by former intelligence officer Anthony Shaffer from reaching the shops

It's every author's dream – to write a book that's so sensationally popular it's impossible to find a copy in the shops, even as it keeps climbing up the bestseller lists. And so it is for Anthony Shaffer, thanks to the Pentagon's desire to buy up all 10,000 copies of the first printing of his new book, Operation Dark Heart. And then pulp them.

The US defence department is scrambling to dispose of what threatens to be a highly embarrassing expose by the former intelligence officer of secret operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and of how the US military top brass missed the opportunity to win the war against the Taliban.

The department of defence is in talks with St Martin's Press to purchase the entire first print run on the grounds of national security.
The publisher is content to sell the books but the two sides are in a grinding dispute over what should appear in a censored version and when it should be released.

Now St Martin's Press says it will put the partly redacted manuscript on sale next week whether or not the defence department likes it – and there doesn't appear much the authorities can do. The army had cleared the book by Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer, about "black ops" in the Afghan war when he was based at Bagram in 2003, for publication after relatively minor changes.
But when the intelligence services and defence department officials saw it they were alarmed.

They said it contained highly classified material including the names of American intelligence agents and accounts of clandestine operations, and demanded the book be withdrawn on the grounds it "could reasonably be expected to cause serious damage to national security".

The Pentagon is using Shaffer's status as a reserve officer to block him from speaking to the press, but a source close to the publication of the book said that some of the sensitive material had been removed but the defence department was still seeking to purge it of other information that is 20 years old or even in the public domain.

For that reason, there is suspicion that the defence department is less concerned with the nitty gritty of classified material than its broader story of intelligence forays in to Pakistan and his claim that top US military leaders blew an opportunity to win the war years ago.

Shaffer describes in the book how he was part of the "dark side of the force" that operates outside the usual constraints of the military system. He led a group that called themselves the Jedi Knights and specialised in "black ops" including "striking at the core of the Taliban" inside Pakistan. He says that US forces were gaining the upper hand until the military brass involved itself, curbing operations in Pakistan and permitting the Taliban to strengthen …

China's main nuclear power company is in talks with Pakistan to build a one-gigawatt nuclear power plant in the South Asian country, a newspaper reported Tuesday.

The state-run China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC), which has already helped Pakistan build a civilian reactor at Chashma in Punjab province, is also finishing a second one there and has agreed contracts to build two others. "Both sides are in discussions over the CNNC exporting a one-gigawatt nuclear plant to Pakistan," company vice president Qiu Jiangang was quoted as saying by the Wall Street Journal.

Qiu added that the first reactor was running safely, and that the second would be onstream by year's end. Officials at CNNC had no immediate comment when contacted by a French news agency. The United States has conveyed its concerns to Pakistan over the contracts for the third and fourth reactors, saying such plans required special approval from the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

The group brings together nuclear energy states that forbid exports to nations lacking strict International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. China joined the NSG in 2004. Pakistan has not signed the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

In his latest write up for BBC, Pentagon adviser Ahmed Rashid proposes putting Pakistan under an international trusteeship. Too bad he forgot that Pakistan is not under US or NATO occupation. Ahmed Rashid leads the pack of pro-US and pro-UK activists in Pakistan, whose work is tailored to please a foreign audience. But he is not alone. There is Dr. Hafeez Shaikh and Dr. Nadeem ul Haq, Pakistan’s key economic managers. The United States does not need to invade and occupy Pakistan and execute a regime-change like it did in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Pakistan, Washington is using apologists in politics, media and intelligentsia who are willing accomplices without Washington having to fire a single bullet.

USA Paid Agents In Pakistan America’s Men In Pakistan

The more one observes the Pakistan-US relationship, the more one realizes that to understand fully its multiple dimensions, one really needs to look at it through a Gramscian [Italian Marxist Antonio Gramsci] framework of hegemony where the hegemon has so entrenched its value system in the ruling elite of the subservient nation that it does not need to exercise the use of force or brute power. In other words, it has established its hegemony, which Gramsci distinguishes from power through use of force – to explain the depth of Gramscian thought in a simplistic but comprehensible fashion. That is, the ruling elite imbibe the value system of the hegemon – in this case the US – as its own and relate to it, rather than to its own indigenous influences and realities. Aiding and abetting this external value system’s adoption are of course the “organic intellectuals” in the Gramscian sense, who are linked to the ruling class and have to be won over by the hegemon since it is this group in a society that create an awareness not only of a class’s functions in the economic sense, but also in the social and political fields. But an even more important group of “intellectuals” are the “traditional intellectuals” who claim to be autonomous and independent of any class in society, including the ruling class but are not always so. If one now examines the extensive definition of intellectuals by Gramsci, it includes not just those who think in society – which he says everyone does – but who have “the function of intellectuals” and included in this are business managers, media persons, researchers, engineers, politicians and so on. continue

TTP TTP Militants Seek Pardon for Their Crimes: Report

Five Taliban militants sought pardon from a public gathering for "crimes" they committed during their rule in Swat valley in northwest Pakistan, a media report said in Islamabad on Saturday.

The militants told the gathering of residents of Kabal sub-division that they had made a mistake by joining the Taliban, whose leadership is "anti-Pakistan and anti-Islam."

They requested the people to forgive them for their crimes, the Daily Times newspaper reported.

The Taliban fighters appeared before the public at a gathering held at the 'hujra' or guesthouse of local defence committee chief Idress Khan in Bara Bande village. The militants are residents of Kabal, a former Taliban stronghold, and were arrested during the operation conducted by the army in Swat last year. This was the first time that Taliban militants appeared at a public gathering in Swat, located 160 kms from Islamabad.

The militants were later taken away to a detention centre located at an unknown place, witnesses said. The army has asked residents of Kabal to keep an eye on suspicious elements and to inform it if any wanted terrorists are spotted.

The Taliban had set up a parallel administration in most parts of Swat valley. This prompted the government to launch an army operation to flush out the militants from Swat and surrounding districts.

indian occupied kashmir unrest A Cage Called Kashmir

By Z.G. Muhammad

Mogul emperor Shah Jahan, four and half centuries back, waxed lyrical on the sight of beautiful Kashmir valley nestled in the bosom of mighty Himalayas and called it paradise on the earth. In his wildest dreams he would not have imagined that one day this land will become more hellish than hell for its citizens. Now for for past more than six decades it is soaked in blood and tears with its every year having tales of repression, intimidation and terror to tell.

The birth of Kashmir 'tragedy' dates back to the birth of India and Pakistan as independent nations. The future of this state at this important juncture of history of the sub-continent had remained undecided. The dispute over this strategically located state, bordering China, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India commenced "on the morning of 27 October 1947 when units of Indian Army started landing at Srinagar Air filed" and the United Nations Security Council asked India and Pakistan for demilitarization and allowing people of the state right to self-determination. India's military presence in the state over years has increased to 700000, making it highest militarized zone in the world. Notwithstanding massive military presence, people of the state have been asking for right to self-determination and being met with repressive force. More than half a million people have been killed in state during past six decades. Of these over one hundred thousand have died after an anti-India armed insurgency was triggered by rigged State Assembly poll in 1987. Thousands have been maimed, crippled and disabled for rest of their life and over a hundred thousand have been orphaned. The 'killing fields' of Kashmir wrote Pankaj Mishra, in Guardian "dwarf those of Palestine and Tibet." Now when India has contained the armed insurgency and militant's guns have fallen silent people have been holding peaceful rallies and demonstration in support of 'Azadi' (freedom). continue

Pakistan Journalist Tortured Blackmail In Bolachistan An Abduction Blamed On Pakistani Spooks

by Ahmed Quarishi

At one point last year, Jang Group came under attack from both the Pakistani and US governments simultaneously. The list of anti-media parties is longer than commonly thought.

The abduction and torture a couple of weeks ago of an investigative reporter for one of Pakistan’s largest English-language dailies is turning into a classical Pakistani whodunit; a mystery that competing powerbrokers in Pakistan are exploiting to pull down one another.

There are three key players in the mystery: First is the government of President Asif Ali Zardari and the civilian spy agencies that work for him; second are the military-led spy agencies; and third is the Jang Group, the parent company of The News where the abducted journalist Umar Cheema works.

Mr. Cheema was kidnapped from a public area on 3 Sept., 2010. His abductors kept him in custody for less than a day, tortured him, shaved off his head, eyebrows and moustaches, and reportedly photographed and/or video-taped him naked, for future blackmail purposes. During the ordeal, the abductors accused Mr. Cheema of working to sabotage democracy. He was released and asked to convey a message to his immediate boss, Mr. Ansar Abbasi, the head of the investigative unit at The News and a widely admired journalist. The message was simple: Back off or we’ll hurt your son.

The incident marks a new low for Pakistani politics, where intimidation and violence are an accepted part of how politics are conducted. The history of how Pakistani politicians have been treating one another is quite colorful in this regard. There are some voices now, mostly in the media but sourced to politicians who don’t want to be named, that are pointing fingers for this disturbing incident at the country’s military-controlled spy agencies, namely the ISI and the Military Intelligence.

Considering how the Pakistani political system is teetering on the brink of collapse, with the massive failures of Pakistani democracy exposed like never before, this abduction assumes unusual significance and might become a point of reference in the future. It is important, therefore, to understand what is at play in this case.

The elected government of President Asif Zardari did achieve one thing in its first two-and-half years: it steered clear of political victimization and hounding journalists. [Despite this record, I personally was the target of a direct attempt at intimidation by a senior aide to President Zardari in the early days of his administration in 2008. But apart from that one case, the Zardari government to its credit shunned such tactics].

But this clean record of the Zardari government has almost been rolled back. For the past several months, Mr. Zardari’s administration has been withholding advertizing money from major news organizations as an arm-twisting tactic. The Jang Group, which runs The News International newspaper, the Urdu-language Jang, and Geo News television network, was a special target because of its influence and outreach. Pakistani federal and provincial governments are the biggest advertisers and newspapers depend on this source of revenue. continue

The undercover agents working for the US spying agencies operating in Pakistan are using the email domains that belong to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), to share secret information on Pakistan, The Nation's investigations reveal.

FBI Agents in Pakistan Another FBI Agent Exposed Using Pakistans Email Domains

An authentic piece of information based on verified reports discloses that the FBI and CIA agents currently living in Islamabad are using the email domain “ic.fbi. state. gov”. The email address of an FBI reported informant who uses the same email domain, which this newspaper managed to get hold of, reads “keith. winter@ic. fbi. state.gov”.

The reported undercover operative introduces himself as an aid worker who is here to provide humanitarian assistance to flood affectees. The informant is identified as Keith B. Winter, a US national, currently residing in the sector F-6/2. In order to verify whether the aforesaid email address was workable and it was operated from Islamabad, some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were consulted who confirmed after due verifications that the email address was existent, been operated from the aforementioned origin.

This journalist sent a few emails to the email address in discussion, but they were not returned. The situation is alarming as on one hand, the United States accuses Pakistan’s government and military set-ups of having failed to curb ‘rising militancy’ in flood-hit areas while on the other hand, its own intelligence agencies are the ones that are exploiting the flash floods scenario to the maximum, in the garb of humanitarian assistance.

The ISPs say that the informants who use secretive email domains are using Pakistani Internet networks to operate from. However, the ISPs are unable to stop that practice and make any secret information public.

USA Friends Who Helped Us Indo Pak War Of 1965?

By Ahmed Quraishi

If you need to remember one war, let it be 6 September 1965. I wasn’t born then but Pakistan’s younger generation should know about it. Forget the enemy. I’m more interested in our friends, and those who pretend to be our friends.

1965 war, Pakistan captured Khem Karan in Indian Punjab, Munabao in Rajasthan, and some 1,200 square miles of Indian territory in the southwest of India. Highlights include the world’s largest tank battle after WWII and what then was a new memorable chapter in world air combat history. Even the nascent Pakistan Navy excelled under pressure, launching attacks inside Indian territorial waters. In one daring incident, Pakistani boats attacked large Indian attacks vessels in order to lure them to come out of their docks. They never did.

But we also need to know who was our friend in the war and who worked against us. It’s importnt because, 45 years later, much of it is still true.

Here’s a primer on who did what to us in that war and how it should matter to you as a Pakistani today: continue

Pak1stanFirst Exclusive: By Ali Khan

Author is Editor In Chief of Pak1stanFirst and hosts Editor's Show on WatanRadio.

According to an unclassified document received, Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence’s (ISI) chief tried to negotiate with Taliban to stop US attack on Afghanistan, under the orders of General Pervez Musharraf the then President of Pakistan. The documents claim that Chief of Pakistani ISI General Mahmud met with American ambassador and informed about a meeting that was going to take place between him and Mullah Omar on September 25.

According to this document General Mehmud wanted Mullah Omar to hand over Osama bin Laden and to stop all Al Qaida terrorist training camps as per the US demands so that US would not attack Afghanistan.

Gen Mahmud told American Ambassador during this meeting that “not to act in anger. Real victory will come in negotiations.” While trying to convince the American ambassador to wait for negotiations the American unclassified document had quoted Gen Mahmud saying “Reasoning with them to get rid of terrorism will be better than the use of brute force. If the strategic objective is Al Qaida and UBL, it is better for the Afghans to do it. We could avoid the fallout.”

“We will not flinch from military effort,” Gen Mahmud said to the ambassador. “But a strike will produce thousands of frustrated young Muslim men. It will be an incubator of anger that will explode two or three years from now.”

Gen Mahmud’s prediction as quoted above from American unclassified documents was correct. Right now Pakistan has been going through much trouble due to frustrated young Muslim men from Afghan incubator. A record number of Pakistani civilians and security forces died in militant violence since 2003 as the country reeled from an onslaught of Taliban suicide bombings.

Pakistanis faced 3,021 deaths in terrorist attacks only in 2009; the figure was 48% higher than 2008, according to a study by the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), a defense think-tank. There were total of 12,600 violent deaths across the country in 2009 which was fourteen times more than 2006.

According to this document Ambassador and her staff understood Gen Mahmud’s concerns but they had their reservations on his efforts.

This report is totally opposite to the perception found among the common masses and the media in Pakistan. The media usually claims that government of Pakistan at that time did not try to resolve the issue by means of peace and accepted military option under American pressure after first phone call by American secretary of state.

The document claims that Gen Musharraf the military ruler at the time wanted his intelligence chief to take such actions as it is the demand of people of Pakistan and that it served Musharraf’s political interests.

The documents are attached herewith: continue

September11 World Trade Center 9/11: Hope or Hate

Numerous commentators on the demented, hate filled ramblings of "Pastor" Terry Jones, who may or may not celebrate his 11th September by an evening of Qur'an burnings, have referred to the potential of Muslim retaliation across the globe. General Petraeus is concerned about backlash to US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. President Obama and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, more or less reiterated his stance – whilst saying they are powerless to stop his hate filled initiative. One can only speculate as to whether they would be as sanguine were it the Torah or Talmud being burned.

Yet the avalanche of comments also create a further divide.

Jones is a man with miniscule "following." Near no mention is being made of Christians, Jews or those born to both religions, but who have long wandered away, and of other faiths, or none, shamed and repelled to have this action committed in their name – they are American, British, German, Spanish, Polish, Italian and other nations – civilian, but unwillingly "allied" to the "coalition", who have invaded – and are threatening – Muslim countries. They are part of the millions who marched against war – and the countless more, who first believed the threats spouted by their governments, then acknowledged that they had been mislead and have acted tirelessly, trying to redress their – and governments – mistakes.

One website condemning the action attracted seven thousand protesters near-instantly. A tongue in cheek commentator suggested it is the Pastor who should be burned – in Hell. Another site has attracted more thousands of non-Muslims to a worldwide "Wear a Hijab Day", on 11th September – and another to convert the anniversary to global: "Buy a Qur'an Day." continue

LeCompte is executive director and St. Louis is deputy director of the Jubilee USA Network, an alliance of more than 75 religious denominations, human rights groups and development agencies.

The network just released a statement: “Jubilee USA joins global advocacy groups in an outcry against the new debt that Pakistan has been forced to borrow in light of the worst humanitarian disaster in its history. The $450 million emergency loan announced with much fanfare by the IMF late last week may provide needed cash now, but will be quickly nullified when Pakistan sends this year’s $500 million payment on previous loans back to the IMF.

“The new loan, which will require up to $15 million in interest payments this year, joins $3 billion in loans recently announced by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank. This commitment adds to the country’s already crushing $54 billion debt burden.
“While 60 percent of the Pakistani population lives in dire poverty, the country does not fit the World Bank and IMF’s criteria for a ‘low-income country.’ Under the current IMF rules, Pakistan does not qualify for debt relief under the Fund’s new ‘Post Catastrophe Debt Relief Facility’ because of this technicality. Jubilee USA calls on IMF shareholders, such as the U.S. government, to lead in ensuring that Pakistan receives needed debt relief from the IMF and other creditors.”

No Debt for Disaster in Pakistan

As Pakistan faces the worst humanitarian disaster in its history, the country will have to pay $3 billion each year to foreign creditors – a sum that dwarfs current levels of emergency aid – unless we respond today.

Already, Pakistan’s government spends three times more on debt payments than it does healthcare. Now, instead of grant assistance, the World Bank and Asian Development Bank have offered $2.9 billion more in new loans. This will only add to Pakistan’s enormous and unsustainable $49 billion debt.

Afghanistan People Afghan Taliban Chief Says Victory Imminent

Mullah Omar says Nato-led forces are losing the war in Afghanistan and his fighters are close to victory.

The Afghan Taliban leader has said his fighters were close to victory in driving foreign forces out of the country. In a message on Wednesday marking the end of the Muslim fasting month Ramadan, Mullah Omar called on Afghans to redouble their struggle and push for foreign troops to withdraw, saying the Nato-led coalition was losing the war. He said victory "over the invading infidels is now imminent" attributing the progress to "belief in the help of Allah and unity among ourselves".

"Put all your strength and planning behind the task of driving away the invaders and regaining independence of the country," he told Afghan fighters. continue

  • Development and building institutions and traditions is more important for a new country than democracy. That's precisely what Pakistan needed and continues to need. In Pakistan, we need a visionary nationalistic leadership at the top backed by the strength of the Pakistani military to install a confident visionary leadership and give it consistency and continuity. That's the formula that worked for China. The more time we waste in propping up a fake democracy, the more Pakistan will come closer to internal failure.

  • Consider Mr. Musharraf and Mr. Putin, both products of military institutions in their respective countries. Both came to power around the same time. Ten years later, Musharraf faces the humiliation of exile and defeat while Putin is still in power. Musharraf led the country into internal and external chaos leaving Pakistan humiliatingly even more dependent on other countries that are taking advantage of the situation, while Putin saved Russia from collapse and reasserted Russia's power when everyone had written that country off.

Ahmed Quraishi is one of the youngest public policy commentators and broadcasters to have emerged in Pakistan since the country adopted a media liberalization policy in 2002. Until recently, he was hosting a talk show on state-run PTV that projected Pakistan’s foreign policy positions.

He is a co-author most recently of The India Doctrine: 1947-2007.

Mr. Quraishi was born, raised and educated in Kuwait (1972). An avid polyglot; he is proficient in Arabic, English, and Urdu, with an active interest in Turkish and Farsi.

Q&A

Question: Mr. Quraishi, What is the main problem that Pakistan is facing in the current situation? Is it terrorism, Taliban, nuclear weapon or something else?

Destiny and leadership. We in Pakistan don't have a sense of destiny and purpose, and lack real leaders. There is no better way to describe our predicament in Pakistan. Politicians and army generals have rotated power for decades. But none was able to give Pakistanis a sense of destiny. Pakistani politicians and generals are unable to run schools or cities or plan for the nation's future needs. They don't know if they want to be a nuclear power just to scare India or also as a means to projecting power in order to achieve Pakistan's legitimate economic and security interests in its expanded strategic space of central-south-western Asia.

There is no sense of destiny within the Pakistani ruling elite. Unlike it, ordinary Pakistanis are better motivated. They see the hand of destiny in the history of their ancestors in the region and in the way the Pakistan Independence Movement secured an independent country sixty-four years ago. Let me give you a brief example. Behind locked door, Pakistani scientists are busy creating new weapons and policymakers are huddled to strategize on Afghanistan and Kashmir, but the political leaders in Islamabad fail to reflect this sense of self-confidence in local politics or in foreign policy. continue

Pakistan Missle Technology Nuclear Armed Pakistan expected to chair IAEA board

Pakistan is expected to become the next head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog’s governing body despite being outside a global anti-nuclear arms pact and home to a nuclear smuggler who supplied Iran and North Korea, diplomats say. One Western diplomat said the choice was “not ideal” because, like India, North Korea and Israel, Pakistan has shunned the 1970 Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) that is at the heart of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s work.

But Western powers are not expected to oppose the nominee of a group of Middle East and South Asia member states because Pakistan was a longstanding member of the Vienna-based IAEA Board of Governors and the choice would be within its rules.

“People are talking about it but I don’t think there will be any uproar,” a European diplomat said. “There is no rule saying that an informal nuclear weapons state cannot be chair.” continue

Satan Age(1) Insider Says We’re Entering “The Age of Satan”

Satanist Insider: “There is No escape!”
Satanist Insider Responds to Disbelievers
Satanist Insider: “Keep Your Money Hidden!”

The sheeple now have the truth and we know that they’ll do nothing. In any event it is far too late. There is no escape.
Told you that the Mad Monk (Tony Abbott) wouldn’t get in. That said, we had to do a lot of back room work. The arrangements may prove more stable than many believe, although I wouldn’t hold my breath.

We got Julia in (as I said we would) despite the incontestable facts that the Mad Monk won both the primary vote and the most parliamentary seats. Not bad, but we didn’t have the ease of the American voting system that got GWB in the first time. I guess George was meant to win because he’s a Xtian.[Christian] Economically the world is in for a very rough time, Australia included. Not long to go now. Fortunately Bob Katter et al [Oz Finance Minister] will push for tariffs, which is just what the doctor ordered and the sheeple want. The same will happen throughout the world. Mark my words, there’ll be ‘tariff reform’ in America before the end of this year. And we will give the sheeple what they want: good and hard.

The Kenyan (Obama) and his Mossad bank Chairman (Bernanke) are following orders and debasing the American currency. We’ve got gold and silver so as soon as US Treasury bonds collapse we’ll be buying what we can’t take. In either case it’ll be a steal. Shouldn’t be too long to wait. All the big investment firms engage in programmed computer trades. It’ll be over in less than a second. Who cares? Is anyone going to stop us? I know that they can’t, poor prayerful little dears. continue

US pastor Terry Jones: "We have agreed to cancel our event"

The pastor of a small US church who planned to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of 9/11 has cancelled his protest.

Terry Jones said he was calling off the event after the group behind a planned Islamic centre near Ground Zero in New York agreed to relocate it.

But the cultural centre's organisers said they had no plans to move it.

Mr Jones' plan had been internationally condemned and had already sparked many protests around the world.

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates had telephoned him to urge him to reconsider his plans. The pastor had also been visited several times by the FBI.

Mr Jones, pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, which has fewer than 50 members, had named Saturday "International Burn a Koran Day".

But at a news conference, he said he was now dropping the plans and urged his supporters to do the same.

"We would right now ask no one to burn Korans. We are absolutely strong on that. It is not the time to do it," he said.

He said he would travel to New York on Saturday to meet those behind the Islamic centre, saying they had "agreed to move the location".

"The American people do not want the mosque there, and, of course, Muslims do not want us to burn the Koran," he said.

"If it's not moved, then I think Islam is a very poor example of religion. I think that would be very pitiful. I do not expect that."

Contractors who worked for BP on the ill-fated Deepwater Horizon oil rig have criticised the company's report into the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

maxico oil BP Faces Backlash Over Gulf Oil Spill Report

Drilling firm Transocean branded the report "self serving" while cement contractor Halliburton said it contained "omissions and inaccuracies".

BP blamed a "sequence of failures involving a number of different parties" for the spill. It faces billions of dollars worth of compensation claims over the disaster. Transocean dismissed BP's report, accusing the oil giant of having designed a "fatally flawed" well and making "cost-saving decisions that increased risk – in some cases, severely".

"This is a self-serving report that attempts to conceal the critical factor that set the stage for the Macondo (well) incident: BP's fatally flawed well design," the Swiss-based group said in a statement.

Halliburton also hit back at the 193-page report.

"As we continue to review BP's internal report published earlier today, we have noticed a number of substantial omissions and inaccuracies in the document," it said.

"Halliburton remains confident that all the work it performed with respect to the Macondo well was completed in accordance with BP's specifications for its well construction plan and instructions, and that it is fully indemnified under its contract for any of the allegations contained in the report."

Pastor Terry Jones to go ahead with Qur'an burning day despite Hillary Clinton saying plan is disrespectful and disgraceful

Preacher Terry Jone Quran burning day to go ahead despite death threats

The gun-toting pastor at the centre of international outrage over his plans to stage a Qur'an burning day to mark the 9/11 attacks says he is determined to go ahead in the face of fierce condemnation from the Obama administration.

The Rev Terry Jones said more than 100 death threats would not put him off Saturday's event, when he plans to lead the burning of 200 copies of the Muslim holy book at his Dove World Outreach Centre in Gainesville, Florida.

"If we don't do it, when do we stop backing down?" he told ABC television. "It's something we need to do, it's a message we need to send."

He confirmed he would be armed during the event. "We are prepared to give our lives for this," he said.

Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, led condemnation of the planned burning, describing it as a "disrespectful, disgraceful act". Others in the administration weighed in, including Eric Holder, the attorney general, who called it idiotic and dangerous. A state department spokesman called the planned protest "un-American".

Pakistan Pakistan Today

I draw your kind attention towards the necessity of TODAY’S PAKISTAN. Today neither any institution nor any political party can alone address the national, regional and international issues. Since 60 Years Pakistan is witnessing the leadership based in Divide and Rule principal of British Colonial system and now it warrants the leadership Unite and Serve. At the outset of 21st Century, The world at large is confronting with disintegration of nations, cultures and civilizations. Our response to the world is defensive which has invited unseen and perpetual interferences. All this is because of our differences within the politicians, Leaders, Sects, Cultures and Groups. Since the creation of Pakistan we have neither formulated any Social Contract nor could agree upon one Constitution. Every government introduced partial reforms and amendments, but the next Govt. receded the whole process. Because our constitution is not compatible to the current world Democratic system. The necessity of time demands a National Government to achieve national goals like social contract and constitution for distribution of resources and provision of opportunities.

The 1973 constitution’s Sovereign Code conflicts with the judiciary, Mulla and Army Codes. The author of the constitution was completely alien to the principals of Sovereign Code. Thus he failed to synchronize the ideology and cultural code and could not design metonym common codes for the nation’s identity. The sovereign code of the constitution is copy of British sovereign code colored with French Sovereign Code without addressing antonym code of the two systems. Therefore it was not possible to synchronize its codes with our culture and ideology. The Constitution reflects the ignorance of the author toward the Metonym code, ideology code and the cultural code of democracy. This was the time when the nation had still not recovered from the shock of the disgraceful handover of one wing to the enemy. The disintegrated and frustrated nation was not in proper mind frame to adopt any new constitution. continue

USA Crusade Against Muslim World Americas Holy Crusade against the Muslim World

We have reached a decisive transition in the evolution of US military doctrine. The "Global War on Terrorism" (GWOT) directed against Al Qaeda launched in the wake of 9/11 is evolving towards a full-fledged "war of religion", a "holy crusade" directed against the Muslim World.

US military dogma and war propaganda under the Bush administration were predicated on combating Islamic fundamentalism rather than targeting Muslims. "This is not a war between the West and Islam, but .. a war against terrorism." So-called "Good Muslims" are to be distinguished from "Bad Muslims":

"The dust from the collapse of the twin towers had hardly settled on 11 September 2001 when the febrile search began for "moderate Muslims", people who would provide answers, who would distance themselves from this outrage and condemn the violent acts of "Muslim extremists", "Islamic fundamentalists" and "Islamists". Two distinct categories of Muslims rapidly emerged: the "good" and the "bad"; the "moderates", "liberals" and "secularists" versus the "fundamentalists", the "extremists" and the "Islamists"." (Tariq Ramadan, Good Muslim, bad Muslim, New Statesman, February 12, 2010)

In the wake of 9/11, the Muslim community in most Western countries was markedly on the defensive. The "Good Muslim" "Bad Muslim" divide was broadly accepted. The 9/11 terrorist attacks allegedly perpetrated by Muslims were not only condemned, Muslim communities also supported the US-NATO invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, as part of a legitimate campaign directed against Islamic fundamentalism.

Washington's objective was to instill a sentiment of guilt within the Muslim community. The fact that the 9/11 attacks were not instigated by Muslims has rarely been acknowledged by the Muslim community. Al Qaeda's ongoing relationship to the CIA, its role as a US sponsored "intelligence asset" going back to to the Soviet-Afghan war is not mentioned.

Since the early 1980s, Washington has covertly supported the most conservative and fundamentalist factions of Islam, largely with a view to weakening secular, nationalist and progressive movements in the Middle East and Central Asia. Known and documented, the fundamentalist Wahhabi and Salafi missions from Saudi Arabia, dispatched not only to Afghanistan but also to the Balkans and to the Muslim republics of the former Soviet republics were covertly supported by US intelligence. (Ibid) What is often referred to as "Political Islam" is in large part a creation of the US intelligence apparatus (with the support of Britain's MI6 and Israel's Mossad). continue

It was the morning of 27 Ramadan, 1431 Hijri when a graveyard fell on my way to my destination. Silence was pushing me out of the compound with both arms. But an old grave caught my attention when it read:

Name: Two-Nation theory | Burial Date: 26th March 1971

Two Nation Theory Two Nation theory Why We Have Struggled For Pakistan

It took me by awe and after my research I came to know that it was the separation of Bengal from West Pakistan that caused the coma-stricken Two-Nation theory to depart from the hearts of the Muslims of sub-continent. It reminded me of Indira Gandhi’s statement of 1971 when she claimed that she has submerged the Two-Nation theory in the Bay of Bengal.

The Two-nation theory was the basis of the unity of the Muslims of sub-continent under the Pakistani flag. After its burial the Pakistani nation forgot it just like a buried person is forgotten.

The country is suffering the after-effects of this crime. Today’s Pakistan seems to have reached the most critical phase of her lifeline where on one hand the Muslims are divided on linguistic, sectarian and materialistic basis internally and the external enemy is looking for an opportunity to swallow us up. Natural disasters are another indication that ALLAH (SWT) is angry at this nation.

Our predecessors who handed over us an independent homeland inherited us the guiding principles to run this country. In essence our founding theory says that Hindus and Muslims are two different nations in all aspects of life. As a nation did we manage to maintain our identity? Each and every citizen needs to ponder on it.

A Pakistani Muslim needs to conduct a self-analysis covering all the spheres of his/her life from dress-code to social conduct and underline his/her shortcomings. It shall serve in producing an ideal Muslim society reflecting our founding principles put into practice.

Let us root out the tree of hypocrisy which we have nourished with our own hands. The injustice, corruption, robbery, sectarianism, terrorism, lack of education, dishonesty, provincialism, divisions over language and race, among others, are all the branches of this strongly rooted and wide-spread tree.

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is encircled by enemies and betrayed by hypocrites in more or less the same way as was the Islamic State of Madinah around 1431 years ago. continue

Pakistan Army Helping Flood People Pakistan Army Chief, Officers to Celebrate Eidul Fitr with Flood Hit People

As hundreds of thousands of flood-affected people would be homeless on Eidul Fitr next week, the army leadership will not celebrate the day with their own families and instead visit the people staying in relief camps.

“On the instructions of Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, special functions will be arranged at relief camps for flood-affected people, particularly women, children and elderly,” daily The News reported on Saturday quoting an unnamed official source. “In these functions, flood-affected people will be presented special gifts from the army officers, jawans and their families,” he said.

The official said that General Kayani too would celebrate Eidul Fitr with the flood-affected people, instead of his family, and would pay special visits to relief camps in different parts of the country on that day. He said that in line with the decision of the army chief, all corps commanders and other senior officers would also celebrate Eidul Fitr with flood-affected people at relief camps in the areas of their posting. continue

pakteambusAFP I was only repeating newspaper stories: Hameed

CARDIFF: The Pakistan batsman who was secretly filmed claiming that his teammates threw matches for money said on Sunday he had only been repeating allegations he had read in newspapers.

Source: Dawn News

Yasir Hameed was filmed by the tabloid News of the World newspaper saying that some of his teammates were often trying to lose matches, claiming the 2004 Champions Trophy semifinal against West Indies was fixed.

Hameed issued a statement on Sunday saying that a man, who at the time called himself Abid Khan but who he later recognized as News of the World reporter Mazhar Mahmood, had posed as a potential sponsor and that he started answering questions not knowing he was on camera.

“He asked me about the match-fixing allegations against the three current Pakistani players and if I had any further knowledge,'' Hameed said after talks at the Pakistan High Commission.

“As far as I can recall I only told him whatever I had already read in the newspapers about this matter. It seems that Abid had a hidden camera which I was totally unaware of.”

Hameed, who said the incident had largely been ''inaccurately reported'' by the newspaper, said he was offered 25,000 pounds ($39,000) by the reporter to give a statement against three players, Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, currently under investigation for spot-fixing in the fourth test against England at Lord's which finished Aug. 29.

''I immediately refused and put the phone down. I neither called nor answered any calls from Abid after this conversation,'' he said.

landofpure The land of the pure!

If any nation on this planet has the power to surprise, amuse, disappoint and yet cheer you, it is undoubtedly Pakistan. From the world’s richest to the world’s poorest, from the utmost corrupt to the amazingly honest, from the laziest to the hardworking, it is full of unexpected yet expected surprises!

The latest in the bad news from Pakistan is the accusation of spot/match fixing of some of Pakistan’s top cricketers. Cricket is the only sport Pakistanis have as a means of recreation and it is more like a burning torch for Pakistanis in these gloomy days. Now it is under a cloud.

Then there are gems like generous Abdul Sattar Edhi, more than just a humanitarian who works relentlessly to aid the poor. And Imran Khan, cricketer-turned-politician, more respected for building the famous Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center than for his politics.

Then there are so many unknown volunteers, students, and professionals all over Pakistan and overseas who are working day and night to rescue and feed the flood victims. There are innumerable overseas Pakistanis, who feel the pain of their countrymen and donate generously if natural calamities hit their nation.

Yet, our politicians and so-called ambassadors of Pakistan (cricket players) spoil this image by indulging in shameless tricks of dishonesty. And who can ever forget the recent brutality which occurred in Sialkot?

A combination of virtuous and malicious people, like a married couple who were never meant to be together in this nation of Pakistan, which literally means the land of pure!

Suicide Bombers Pakistan Attack Joint Decree Against Suicide Bombers

At least 50 religious scholars belonging to the Barelvi school of thought on Friday issued a joint fatwa (religious decree) declaring that both suicide bombers and their handlers deserved hell.

The decree by the scholars associated with the Barelvi groups in the Sunni Ittehad Council, a conglomerate of 20 parties, has come in the wake of the recent terror acts in Lahore and Quetta. They have also called for jihad against the terrorists, declaring the ongoing army operation against them legitimate.

“Suicide bombers and their handlers both deserve hell because suicide attacks in Islam are illegitimate and unlawful. Islam does not permit killing of any innocent person rather it declares murder of one person the murder of the whole human race,” quotes the decree is sued to the media on Friday evening.

It says: “Jihad against the terrorists has now become an obligation for ensuring integrity of the homeland, protection of lives of innocent people, establishing durable peace, eliminating lawlessness and to foil nefarious conspiracies of the forces against Islam and the country”.

The scholars also described America as the biggest enemy of both Islam and humanity and urged the Pakistani rulers to give up US obedience and raise a strong voice against drone attacks.

The decree says the ongoing army operation against terrorism is lawful and the terrorists being killed in it are destined for hell while the army officers and jawans laying their lives are martyrs. It has, however, supported the freedom movements of Kashmir and Palestine, and jihad against the US invaders in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The scholars allege in their decree that Indian agency RAW, America’s CIA and Israel’s Mosad are behind the terror acts in the country and regret that the elements who had opposed the two-nation theory as well as Sufism have become agents of the three foreign agencies to play havoc with the innocent lives in the homeland.

They held equally responsible the people who are indirectly supporting the terrorists by putting up excuses for the suicide attacks.

Those who signed the religious decree included Haji Fazle Karim, Pir Mazhar Ali Kazmi, Syed Riaz Husain Shah, Syed Irfan Mashhadi, Haji Hanif Tayyab, Pir Afzal Qadri, Shah Turabul Haq Qadri, Sarwat Ijaz Qadri, Mufti Abdul Sialvi and Mufti Abdul Sattar Saeedi. Reported in Dawn Newspaper

Why has the US-backed Jundullah been attacking Shia mosques in Iran? To start a sectarian war.

Pakistans Martyrs To Pakistans Martyrs
The same thing is happening in Pakistan.

The rise in sectarian tensions from Lebanon to Pakistan after the Iraq invasion of 2003 is not all coincidental. It has taken a new more dangerous shape since America's Iraq war. It serves a purpose. It divides potential opponents of the US and provides strategic openings. Iraq has NEVER seen sectarian killings, never in its centuries-old cohabitation between Shias and Sunnis. Tensions didn't even rise after 1979 Shia Islamic revolution in Iran. The sectarian killing fields in Iraq were launched after the Americans landed there in 2003. This is an important fact: Shias and Sunnis never killed one another in Iraq before the US occupation.

At one point, even the puppet Iraqi regime caught British special ops agents dressed as sectarian killers. They agents were never able to explain what mission they were on. They were released after an extra-constitutional intervention from the top. Iraqis, Sunnis and Shias, will tell you many similar stories and recount similar incidents.

The war that the Saudis and Iranians have been fighting in Pakistan through proxy groups in the 1980s and '90s died and ended by the year 2000.

Don't confuse the recent attacks with the Saudi-Iranian proxy sectarian battles that Pakistanis witnessed in the '80s and '90s. The new attacks may have the same foot soldiers but there are new paymasters and masterminds.

What you are seeing now is new players entering the stage: Players located on the Afghan border, drawing support from inside Afghanistan, and attacking exclusively Pakistani Shias and other Pakistanis like the Ahmedis, and almost everyone else. Today, America's 'war on terror' has only one casualty: Pakistanis, by the dozens. Old cadres of sectarian groups, like SSP, and of other groups are low-level foot soldiers but the masterminds are no longer SSP and indigenous Pakistani groups. It's the new players on the Afghan border. And these new players will continue to receive money and arms and training from shadowy sources until the war racket in Afghanistan [and Pakistan] is ended for good.

All Pakistanis must be told this a hundred times: There is no sectarian clash in Pakistan but there are attempts being made to create one. The martyrs in Quetta, Karachi and Lahore over the past three days are OUR martyrs. It is important to avenge the blood of our brothers who died there by understanding the game and keeping Pakistanis united.

cricket Scotland Yard finds no solid evidence of match fixing

The Lords Cricket Test match fixing scandal has entered its final and dramatic phase, with the Scotland Yard’s investigation team failing to find any concrete evidence of match fixing.

Responsible and reliable sources of Scotland Yard had informed on Tuesday that despite ‘the video and other proofs’ as provided by the British tabloid, no credibility has been so far established regarding the scandal so far.

Hence there have been no proofs that the main scandalous and shadowy character of match fixer, Mazhar Majeed ever had any contacts with fast bowlers Muhammad Asif or Muhammad Aamir.

Besides the video provided to Scotland Yard also fails to display the usual time and date formats as depicted in any such videos. Sources have informed that Scotland Yard feels that all no balls by Pakistani team during the Lords Test Match were delivered quite well before they were inducted in the video tape by the notorious Match fixer. However the video was closely scrutinized by Scotland Yard for further evidences.

Quetta Attack: The Responsibility Of Jundullah, Afghanistan And The Organizers

Bomb Blast Quetta Pakistan Quetta Attack: The Responsibility Of Jundullah, Afghanistan And The Organizers

· Terror in Pakistan is not indigenous and is linked to Afghanistan; the attacks in Quetta, Lahore, Karachi executed by terrorists on Afghan border

· There is a need to understand the regional dimensions of terror in Pakistan. There is also a need to permanently limit political and religious events to confined locations.

Iran has seen attacks on Shia mosques by elements claiming to be Sunnis. But there are no Sunni sectarian groups in Iran. The terrorists who have been attacking Iranian targets are based in US-controlled Afghanistan claiming to represent Sunnis. The attacks in Quetta today and in Karachi and Lahore on Wednesday share the same origin as the attacks in Iran: they are masterminded by terrorists who hide on the border with Afghanistan and have links to foreign intelligence agencies based there.

A suicide attacker targeted the Al-Quds rally today in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's Balochistan province. Sixty innocent Pakistanis are dead and the figure is changing every hour because the injured are in excess of 100. continue

Lahore Bombings RAW’s fingerprints at Karbala Gamay Shah, Lahore Bomb Blast

Who made Lahore, a city of ‘Zinda Dillan’ bleed on Wednesday is not a secret any more. It is RAW’s doing can be said without any element of contradiction. This Indian intelligence outfit has been responsible for harbouring terrorist elements in Pakistan and had sponsored various suicide bombings and attacks on religious places including mosques and imambargahs.

Pakistani intelligence agencies have been sending advance information to civil law-enforcing departments that RAW is sponsoring attacks in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other places. However, law enforcers have miserably failed to launch a pre-emptive strike or get hold of those involved is such acts to establish Indian connection. continue
